Exam Update
Exams start on Tuesday, January 25 (Period 1 Exam). The following will help in preparation for the 12 CP-A Exam:
Review characters, plots, themes, etc. in The Things They Carried, Brave New World/1984, Persepolis/Maus, Stiff, and Anthem. Think about the audience, purpose, and strategy for each of the works.
Review the Comparison/Contrast and the Argument/Persuasion PowerPoints. These are the two main modes of writing we have focused on during the first semester.

The Month of January

Persuasion and Argument Unit
Senior Issue Paper/Speech
Tuesday, January 4 - Thursday, January 6: You will be provided information on how to write a persuasive speech. All students must keep a folder for this unit. The folder will be handed in with your final persuasive speech.Due dates for different sections of the research process for the speech will be given in class. Please write all due dates in your planner. The process of creating a thesis, gathering information, and writing the works cited page will all be considered homework grades for this marking period. The actual paper and speech will be a part of the third marking period grade. All seniors are required to write a persuasive speech/essay. Library days include Friday, January 7 through Friday, January 14. This is plenty of time to get all research completed in class. You will receive a grade on your use of library time.
