The Week of November 30

Due Friday, Dec. 4:
1. Pages 1-69 of 1984

Think about the following while reading the novel:


  • compare the happenings of the novel to the happenings of today
  • note the similarities and differences between the husband and wife relationship, the parent and child relationship, and the relationship between co-workers
  • note the similarities and differences between Julia and Winston

2. Research Notes

Meet me in the computer lab on Wednesday and Thursday for research on 1984 topics. Completed research in the form of notes needs to be completed for Friday's class.

Due Monday, December 7:
Persuasive Speech
Due Date Change: Final typed speech will be due on Monday, December 7. Please make sure to have a copy with the works cited page attached for me and have a copy for yourself. Speeches will begin on Monday.

The Week of Nov. 23

Due Monday: Your research folder (highlighted articles, works cited page, & thesis statement)
Monday we will discuss the writing format of the speech and what type of visuals you may use.

Tuesday and Wednesday: Meet me in computer lab #438 to begin typing your speech. A final typed speech will be due (with works cited paper and folder) on Friday, Dec. 4. Speeches will begin on Monday, Dec. 7 in the Library.

The Week of November 16

Meet at the library each day with your issue paper folder. You will spend the week researching your issue. You will need to have four highlighted articles, a works cited page, and a typed thesis statement by Monday, November 23. You will receive a grade each day in the library. Therefore, you should be using your time in the library wisely.

Due Wednesday, November 18 at 11:59 PM: Final Memoir Discussion is to be posted on the Ning. Click on your novel title in the Forum and respond under the subheading - Final Discussion.
