Friday, March 26: Instructions for the PhotoStory project will be given. You must decide on a word you would like to define using images.

The Week of March 29: Computer Lab #438 to work on PhotoStory project. The project will be due the Tuesday we come back from break.

The Weeks of March 8 & March 15

CAUSE AND EFFECT UNIT

The next two weeks will involve pre-reading and pre-writing activities for the cause and effect unit. We will be reading different cause and effect essay and thinking of ideas for your own. Most work will be done in class. However on Monday, March 15, you will decide on one of the topics below to use for a final draft of the paper. We will be in the computer lab 438 on Tuesday, March 16 & Wednesday, March 17 to complete the rough draft. We will do peer evaluations on Thursday, March 18 & the final draft will be due on Wednesday, March 24.

The topics are listed below:
1. The effect (positive or negative) a teacher, friend, or another has had on your life. (“Shame”)
2. The positive or negative effect you may have had on another. (“Shame”)
3. The cause for the dislike of a certain subject in school. (“Why I Hate Mathematics”)
4. The way people may treat you because of your appearance or the way you react around another because of their appearance. (“Black Men and Public Spaces” & “Do I Look Like Public Enemy Number 1” & “Those Who Don’t”)
5. Discuss the effects (both positive and negative) of a recent technological invention (computers, cell phones, my space/facebook, text-messaging) that has impacted our society. (“The Effects of the Telephone”)
6. Discuss the effects of certain beliefs or a movement (i.e. global warming issues) that is currently causing issues and change in today’s society. (“Word and Change”)
7. The need for changes in laws as our society changes and grows that may benefit our society. (“Drugs”)
8. Any other topic that may fit into the cause and effect unit.
